A successful return for the China Roadshow

Agents and educators were delighted to attend the first English UK event in China since 2019.

The StudyWorld China Roadshow included workshops in two cities - Beijing and Shenzhen - in the last week of November.

150 agents joined us to meet 28 organisations from the UK.

"The agents were well-prepared and knew exactly what they were looking for", said organiser Siobhan Baccas.

A big thank you to our event sponsor, English Path.

Positive feedback from the education providers

There was lots of positivity from attending UK providers:

"One of the best events we attend all year"
 Johnny Peters, Emerald UK

"We definitely met the right people during the 1-2-1 meetings, I have high hopes for our 2024 business off the back of this event!"
– Emma Gregory, Inspiring Learning

"StudyWorld China Roadshow was a key opportunity for us to build a bridge with a market that would otherwise be difficult to engage with. The presence of colleagues and an organisation you can rely on makes all the difference."

"Probably the best event if you are trying to establish a network in the Chinese market!"
– Arno van Nieuwenborgh, LINES

"This fair is the perfect size for you to meet all the agents that you would want to and to network with the other educators."
– Niel Pama, ES London

"An excellent event which allowed us to connect with new partners of a different profile in a hugely important market."
Lucy Cattermole, Kings Education

British Embassy visa sessions for attending agents

In each city, a representative from the British Embassy delivered a presentation for the agents on the UK visa application process.

These sessions were well-attended and generated a lot of comments and questions.

DBT sessions on the future of UK-China international education opportunities

The Department for Business and Trade hosted a session on the future of international education opportunities between the UK and China, inviting panellists from renowned agencies including New Oriental and VIPKIDS.

Jing Liu, Deputy Director, Education, Skills, Creative, Retail and Sports (China) at DBT discussed how the Chinese ELT market is being reshaped by digital learning platforms and hybrid teaching models which were encouraging more "successful, flexible and personalised education" for consumers.

It is important to consider how these trends will affect strategies and partnerships, she said, adding that the ELT sector's ability to "adapt and innovate will determine our success in this rapidly changing environment."

"I'm confident that our discussions will be rich, enlightening and instrumental in shaping the future of UK-China ELT partnerships in the coming years."
