English UK-led sector action plan published
As part of its International Education Strategy, the government asked organisations representing different parts of the education sector to develop action plans to support growth, partnership and international engagement. The overall aim is to raise the value of the UK's international education sector to £40 billion by 2030.
Following consultation with members and the wider ELT community, English UK developed the UK ELT Sector Action Plan, which has now been published alongside other sector plans on the government's website.
Delivering the UK ELT Sector Action Plan
English UK will now lead and co-ordinate delivery of the plan, working with members, partners and government to implement its priorities and ensure the ELT sector continues to be represented in policy discussions.
Jodie Gray, chief executive of English UK, said:
"We are very proud that English UK was chosen to lead the development of our sector's action plan. It was a great opportunity to reach out to other parts of UK ELT so that we could reflect shared priorities, opportunities and challenges.
We will continue to support implementation of the plan, working with members, partners and government to help deliver the actions identified and ensure the voice of the UK ELT sector is represented in future policy discussions."
The plan provides a framework for addressing the opportunities and challenges facing UK ELT. It identifies opportunities for growth, highlights barriers and sets out practical actions to strengthen international competitiveness and reinforce the UK's position as a leading destination for English language study. It also provides a structure for implementation and monitoring.
English UK is part of the government's Education Sector Action Group (ESAG), which brings together representatives from across UK education and works closely with government partners to support delivery of the International Education Strategy.
