English UK prepares to support BSC Education students
We are very sorry to hear that BSC Education Ltd has announced it will cease trading and enter liquidation, with its five UK schools in London, Brighton, Manchester, Edinburgh and York expected to close imminently.
Coming so soon after the closure of EC English's UK schools, this is further difficult news for the UK ELT sector and particularly for the students, staff, agents and partners directly affected.
English UK is preparing to support around 150 current students affected by the closures through our Student Emergency Support (SES) scheme. We are working urgently to obtain the student information we need so that we can understand individual circumstances and coordinate support.
Support for BSC Education students
The Student Emergency Support scheme supports eligible students affected by the unexpected closure of an accredited English language centre. It can help students continue their studies at another accredited centre without paying additional course fees.
Once we have the necessary student information, our team will work with accredited centres to identify suitable replacement courses and help students continue their studies with as little disruption as possible.
Jodie Gray, chief executive of English UK, said:
"It is deeply concerning to see another group of students facing the sudden closure of their schools, just weeks after the closure of EC English's UK centres. We are ready to help and are preparing to coordinate support as soon as we have the information we need.
"We are extremely grateful for the support being offered by member centres and colleagues across the UK ELT community. We know students and their families will have questions. We will share clear information on next steps as soon as arrangements are confirmed."
