UK visa news | Visitors from Colombia, Peru and Guyana will no longer need a visa for stays up to six months, from 9 November

Visitors from Colombia, Peru and Guyana will no longer need a visa to visit the UK for up to six months, from 9 November 2022.

This change will make it much easier for students to study a short English language course in the UK, so it is great news for students, agents and schools alike.

The news has been actively promoted by the British Embassies in Colombia and Peru.

Press releases in Spanish:

The change does not affect students who want to stay in the UK for more than six months. They will still need to apply for a visa.

Any students from these countries with a visitor visa application in progress (travelling after 9 November) can cancel their application. Find out how to cancel. The press releases say that refunds will be given if they haven't yet submitted their biometric data.

We will be organising a visa information webinar specifically for agents from Colombia and Peru to answer any questions about these changes. In the meantime, please feel free to contact our compliance manager Naadiya Rawat if you have any questions relating to visa requirements for students affected by this news.
