Service of thanksgiving for Christine Edginton

Christine 'Chrissie' Edginton, who worked for one of English UK's predecessor associations, ARELS, sadly passed away in June of this year following stem cell replacement just before the pandemic.

Chrissie ran the agent workshop in Brighton in the 1990s and was instrumental in laying the foundations for the event that we now all know as StudyWorld.

Those in the industry who remember Chrissie are keen to share details of the service of celebtration and thanksgiving that will be held in Topsham, Exeter on Tuesday 13 September.

Judith Hands, retired former owner and managing director of Torquay International School and former vice president of IALC will deliver one of the tributes.

Full details of the service are as follows:

A Service of Celebration and Thanksgiving for Chrissie Edginton's life

When: 14:30 on Tuesday 13 September

Where: St Margaret's Church Topsham (59 Fore Street, Topsham, Exeter EX3 0HL)

After the service drinks will be served in the Duckworth Suite at the Exeter Golf and Country Club (Topsham Road, Exeter EX2 7AE) to which all are welcome.

Chrissie's wish was for everyone to wear a splash of red!

Donations: Chrissie was greatly supported in many ways by the FORCE Cancer Charity in Exeter. If anyone would like to make a donation to FORCE in her memory, there is a JustGiving page in her memory.

The service will be live-streamed for those who are unable to join in-person. Email Annie Wright at English UK for the link.

Directions for those traveling to the service:

Coming by car:
Everyone who lives locally knows that Topsham is a difficult place to park. There are three paying car parks in the town centre, but street parking is almost entirely residents only and on Fore Street itself parking is restricted to one hour. We would urge as many as possible to car-share. An alternative to driving your car into Topsham would be to park at the Golf & Country Club before the service and take the no. 57 bus from there into Topsham, alighting at The Nelson and then walking down Fore Street to the church.

Coming on public transport:
Public transport from Exeter is good. The no. 57 bus leaves regularly from Exeter Bus Station and passes the Exeter Golf & Country Club on its way to Topsham. There are trains from Exeter St Davids and Exeter Central to Topsham (heading for Exmouth) about every half hour. There are also a number of taxi companies, both in Topsham and Exeter.
