Influencing the debate on international students
21 April 2017

How can English UK, our members and other sector bodies influence the debate on international students in the UK?

Nick Laitner, managing director of MHP Communications, is an expert in the UK political and media scene and will chair an equally qualified panel at the English UK Annual Conference next month to tackle this question.

Together they will examine key issues, including how to preserve the status of EU students in the wake of Brexit, highlighting the contribution international students make to the UK's society and economy and how we can lobby effectively for students to be removed from the net migration targets.

Join us on Tuesday 9 and Wednesday 10 May at the Marriot Bristol Royal Hotel, Bristol, to hear more, meet fellow members and help shape our future.

Nick led the MHP team on its work for English UK over the last two years and has supported a number of clients in devising and managing successful business-critical lobbying campaigns.

Penellists include: James Dobson, a researcher at Bright Blue with a focus on education, immigration and social capital; Associate Director for Migration, Integration and Communities at IPPR, Phoebe Griffith, who specialises in race relations, migrant integration and community cohesion; Jonathan Portes, Professor of Economics and Public Policy and keynote speaker; and Dominic Scott OBE, chief executive of the UK Council for International Student Affairs (UKCISA), since 2004.
