English UK has secured Department for International Trade (DIT) Tradeshow Access Programme (TAP) support to subsidise UK educators' attendance at one of two upcoming industry B2B events.

There are 12 grants available for ICEF Berlin (3-5 November 2019) and a further eight for ICEF Dubai (10-12 February 2020).

DIT, via TAP, provides funding in the form of grants to help UK organisations learn to use exhibitions as a key tool in their export development plans. There is a TAP calendar of supported events, with an accredited Trade Challenge Partner (TCP) leading the UK's involvement at, and coordinating the grants for, each eligible overseas trade show. English UK is the TCP for both ICEF Berlin and ICEF Dubai

At these two ICEF events, our grant-subsidised organisations will be located together in an Education is GREAT branded village. There will be additional Education is GREAT branding at the venues that will help raise the profile of the village and the UK as a learning destination. Each educator will also receive a three-month free trial of CoursePricer.

Those we approve for a TAP grant may claim back £2,000 against their participation costs – a reimbursement of over 50% of the price of attending as an educator with a table. If you are successful, after the relevant ICEF event, English UK will claim the grant on your behalf and will transfer it to you within three weeks of receiving payment from DIT.

Eligibility criteria

TAP funding aims to create opportunities for new, sustaining or growing exporters that are based in the UK and are small or medium-sized enterprises; UK universities; or UK government funded centres of higher or further learning.

The central principle of this DIT funding is that it should 'make something happen that would not otherwise happen'. Therefore, you will not meet the eligibility criteria if you have already confirmed your attendance or are a habitual attendee at the ICEF event (e.g. a regular past attendee and/or an organisation that has participated within the last three years).

You will need to have received less than six TAP grants since 2009; and wish to grow exports beyond the EU or in up to six markets.

To determine whether you are eligible to be considered for a grant, please check the TAP Eligibility flowchart and read through the TAP Terms and Conditions for Exhibitors 2019/20. Please also familiarise yourself with the TAP Exhibitor grant application form

Participating in ICEF Berlin

ICEF Berlin is the leading international networking forum focussed on education and a must-attend for industry professionals. There is no comparable event in terms of size and opportunity anywhere in the world. Over 1,200 quality-screened study-abroad agents from 100+ countries attend.

Educators book a table with one or more representatives who have access to the Marcom e-Schedule PRO online meeting booking system, allowing them to arrange up to 40 one-to-one meetings with the agents. In addition to these pre-scheduled business meetings, the programme includes various seminars and expert panels providing valuable insights into the latest trends and research affecting international education. Lunches, coffee breaks, a cocktail reception, and an official gala dinner provide event attendees with informal networking opportunities.

The full price of an educator table including one representative is €4,400.00 (£3,850.00).

For more details about the event visit ICEF's website or email Nick Stevenson at ICEF.

Participating in ICEF Dubai

The ICEF Dubai Workshop is the region's leading event for networking with student recruitment agents from the Middle East, Africa, South Asia and Turkey. 176 agencies from 34 countries within the region attended in 2019.

Educators at the event book a table with one or more representatives who have access to the Marcom e-Schedule PRO online meeting booking system, allowing them to arrange up to 36 one-to-one meetings with study abroad agents.

The full price of an educator table including one representative is €3,900 (£3,480), based on the early booking rate valid until Saturday 31 August.

For more details visit about the event visit ICEF's website or email Nick Stevenson at ICEF.

Why apply for a TAP grant?

The educator tables booked with TAP support will be in an Education is GREAT branded village, helping to maximise exposure. Additional branding before, during and after these ICEF events will help raise the profile of the UK educators attending and of the UK as a learning destination.

Each educator will also receive a three-month free trial of CoursePricer - this includes free setup. CousePricer is a price calculator for your website. It provides students with quick, accurate quotes, which increases conversions and saves your staff time. It can also be added to up to 50 agents' websites.

After the relevant ICEF event has taken place, and the appropriate paperwork has been completed by English UK (the TAP TCP), each educator approved for a TAP Grant will receive £2,000.

How to apply

Email Roz McGill at English UK, before 17:00 on Monday 27 May, if you meet the eligibility criteria and are interested in applying for a grant to be part of the English UK village at ICEF Berlin and/or Dubai.

Please ensure you specify which event(s) you are interested in, and prior to emailing, do check that your centre meets the TAP eligibility criteria (see above) - all expressions of interest received will be screened.

After the closing date, to ensure fairness in selection, the funded places at each event will be allocated through a draw of all eligible potential applicants. The draw will be performed using an online random number generator.

On Wednesday 29 May you will be notified whether you have been successful.
