English UK member centres like to meet customer demand, so when The English Language Centre in Brighton had a request to put on a taster session for a group of Chinese visitors, they were happy to help.

Phil Hopkins, CEO of ELC said: "We were told that they were entrepreneurs from Shanghai who wanted to learn some skills in negotiation and business communication with multi-national enterprises. So Paul Emmerson, who's a very experienced Business English trainer, put together a two hour seminar on negotiating and communication skills for dealing with British and international companies for Chinese entrepreneurs."

Mr Hopkins says the taster session included intercultural tips, small talk, and advice on the kind of language to use during negotiation. It was tailor-made to the requirements of the group - entrepreneurs from different fields - who wanted good communication skills to reduce risk in multinational communications.

The group also enjoyed a night in Brighton as part of their tour around the UK.

Does your centre offer unusual courses or activities, whether learning legal English with a lawyer, focusing on crystal clear vowel sounds or raising money for charity while you learn, let us know.
