Tempus Public Foundation Foreign Language Learning Programme postponed

The Tempus Public Foundation has announced that the commencement of the Foreign Language Learning Programme will be postponed until 2021 in response to the Covid-19 pandemic. At English UK, we highly value our partnership with the Tempus Public Foundation and are committed to supporting the implementation of the programme and welcoming tens of thousands of young Hungarians to the UK in the future.

Statement from the Tempus Public Foundation

On behalf of Tempus Public Foundation, we would like to inform you that the Hungarian Government has also declared a state of emergency due to the intensifying coronavirus epidemic across Europe and, as a first step, the organisation of mobility programmes abroad, including the Foreign Language Learning Programme has been stopped. At the government's press conference, it was announced that the commencement of the programme had been delayed.

We are all aware that in recent months we have invested a great deal of time and energy in preparing the programme, and we sincerely regret that we cannot start it in this extraordinary situation, but the safety of the people comes first in Hungary and in your country as well.

As soon as Tempus Public Foundation receives further information on the programme, we will communicate it to you immediately.

In the light of the worldwide threat of the coronavirus, it is difficult to be optimistic at the moment, but we trust that the relationship and the programme that we have created together will not be lost. Next year, with a renewed momentum after a longer preparatory phase, we will be able to implement the Foreign Language Learning Programme together with your language centre.

Our primary objective for the near future is to reflect on how we can keep as much of the result of our work as possible, and regarding our long-term goals, we would like to further develop and strengthen our partnership with your language centre.
