The latest data from our QUIC cohort confirms that the UK ELT sector saw strong recovery in the second quarter of 2023. The cohort's overall student week volume reached 81% of Q2 2019 levels.
In a positive move for UK ELT, the ban on Chinese tour groups coming to the UK has been lifted.
The Chinese government banned outbound group travel in 2020 as a result of the pandemic, lifting restrictions on 60 countries in January and March this year. The UK, US, South Korea, India and many European countries are among 78 countries named in the latest announcement in August.

The sale of paper Day Travelcards is expected to end on or before 21 January 2024. English UK knows this is likely to complicate junior group travel in London. We will continue to lobby for paper Day Travelcards to be retained.
